‘Europe Peace or Famine - Which’, by Joseph Southall

1917

The Edgbaston Quaker artist Joseph Southall contributed occasional prints to Sylvia Pankhurst's anti-war suffragette broadsheet 'The Woman's Dreadnought'; the paper later became the 'Workers' Dreadnought' and was adopted as the official weekly organ of the Communist Party (British Section of the Third International).

Illustration from The Woman's Dreadnought edited by Sylvia Pankhurst, vol.4 no.12, 16 June 1917 (London: Workers' Suffrage Federation, 1917)
