This invitation was issued to William Sands Cox, founder of Queen's Hospital in 1840 as a clincal school for the Birmingham Royal School of Medicine. The invitation is richly illustrated and contains depictions of the kinds of activities that the organisers of the event wanted to associate with this park. The illustrations perhaps reflect the concept of the public park as an ideal landscape, separated from the realities of its urban surroundings.
