Description:Home 6 was initially a home for girls only and, as such, was on the left hand side of the drive.

By 1948, Home 4 had become mixed with accommodation for 18 boys and girls. In 1949 it was given the name Fairlawn.

Home 6 was attached to Home 4, adjacent to it. Shirley, a resident in the late 1940s and early 1950s, remembers there being a door between the two.

By 1979, the number of beds in Home 6 had been reduced to 12.

In 1980 Fairlawn closed. The minutes of the time list this as being temporary. However, there is no record of the Home opening again.

It is possible that it merged with The Haven - that was certainly an idea being considered by the Child Care Review group in 1980.
