Description:The building at Serpentine Road has had a variety of uses over the years. Its first mention in the Birmingham City Council minutes is as a students’ hostel. It became a home for elderly people in 1949 and remained as such until the 1980s.

By 1986, it is listed as a children’s home but closed as such before 1994. It is believed that Appledore, originally one of the Erdington Cottage Homes, moved into the building in the late 1980s before finally closing for good in the early 1990s.
