Description:This children's home was initially in a building known as Jubilee House.
Jubilee House was opened as a children’s home late in 1978 and was designed ‘to meet both the long-term and short-stay needs of mentally handicapped children’.
It was a purpose-built home to accommodate 21 children. It was built in three wings which could be used as three physically separate units.
The children were to be cared for in three groups – short stay, long stay and rehabilitation. Building problems meant that, while it was planned to open in the Queen's Silver Jubilee year, it did not actually open until the following year but retained the commemorative name regardless.
In the 1980s (between 1982 and 1989), the building was modified to enable 29 children to stay there at any one time.
In 2003, the name of the building was changed to Camborne House. At this time, the home was still accommodating children with learning disabilities.
