Description:This advertisement is contained within a bound volume of press pulls produced between 1910 and 1913. This is Bournville was published in November 1910. The image represented a carefully selected view of the Works and its employees, onto which Cadbury coated layer upon layer of meaning. Below this, three of the company's principal products were illustrated. These advertisements demonstrate how Cadbury utilised advertising space within newspapers, such as the Daily Mail, to promote the Bournville Works' ethos in conjunction with marketing their principal goods. Each advertisement in this series represented a different aspect of this ethos. This elevated view of Bournville Lane and Bournville was probably taken from the vantage point of the canal and railway that separates Stirchley from Bournville. The factory and village are nestled amongst the hills and trees. The hills in the distance are of particular interest in that they feature in many views of the factory. The single storey factory buildings barely make an impact on the landscape. The image creates an impression of Bournville as a small village.
