Date:1914 - 1918 (c.)

Description:This badge was in use from 1916 and was assigned to skilled men not already involved in other vital war work; they were issued by the Ministry of Munitions for employees of official armaments companies to identify the holder as being engaged in essentail war work and as such exempt from call-up to active service; strict regulations ensured that each badge was individually numbered and each worker would also receive a personal certificate.
