Description:This pin and flag was issued by the Birmingham Belgian Refugee Committee, which included Elizabeth Cadbury amongst its members and which was formed by the City to raise money and provide food and shelter for Belgians made destitute by the German invasion of 1914; supported by trade unions, adults were able to secure employment, many in armaments manufacture; in 1919 most returned to their devastated homeland.
