Date:1913

Description:Theories about child development in 19th century science, medicine and anthropology led to the emergence of the idea of ‘the normal child’. Children were increasingly observed, measured, tested and individual records were created. From these results statistical tables and graphs were produced which showed ‘normal’ patterns of child development. The cover of this report while comical conveys a clear message – this is what a ‘normal’ healthy infant should look like.
