Kynoch & Co. opened a factory to manufacture ammunition at Witton, Birmingham, in 1862. The company expanded dramatically over the following years and acquired a number of other companies before Kynoch Ltd., as it was then called, became a part of Imperial Metal Industries or IMI in 1928-29.
