Description:In this 'City Childhoods' oral history recording, Frank Jones talks about his memories of using Calthorpe and Cannon Hill parks.

During the 1920s, Calthorpe Park and Cannon Hill Park were popular play areas for Frank and his friends. He remembers sliding down Salisbury Road into Cannon Hill Park on a plank on pram wheels, throwing stones and bricks at his friends in the park, and walking along the riverbank of the Rea between Cannon Hill and Calthorpe Parks, knowing that if the park keeper saw them they would be chased and thrown out.
