The St Patrick's Day Parade in Birmingham started in 1952 and is now the World's largest after New York and Dublin.
On Sunday 12 March 2006 the parade started at Camp Hill and worked its way down High Street Deritend through Digbeth, the heart of the Irish Community in Birmingham. Even the cold weather did not deter the huge crowd of around 80,000 spectators, who turned up to watch 40 floats, horses and carts, and hundreds of Irish dancers and marching bands, some of whom had travelled from Ireland.
