Description:My board reflects the many Cultural Obstacles we are faced with now in this day and age. Our roots, our environment, our culture and our heritage.

The bottom of the board is about me and my surroundings, my people, my area, my life. The tree in this represents what I am growing to be and the roots lead back to my people and my heritage – as they are where I am from. Without them I am nothing and have nothing just like a tree without it roots – it would not grow.

Collated amongst the pictures is one of Malcolm X’s famous sayings “Justice by any means necessary”. This basically shows how the people of today think. As aspiring and free individuals they take the law into their own hands.

Moving upwards, to the top, are my dreams of aspiration. Equality, I do not feel between races has been met, so the phrase “LET US BE BLACK AND BLESSED” seemed appropriate to add here. I feel it is something that has and still is taking a long time to become apparent.

Stereotypes and past history has interfered with equal treatment amongst races, which is why I did my board the way I did, to show that it is still an upcoming plan of the system.
