Description:This year I have been involved in a Globalisation project with my group called the Techno Elders. We are a group of elderly African Caribbean’s studying in Newtown and are supported with our educational development by the Workers Educational Association, West Midlands. During this year I learnt about DFID, which stands for the Department for International Development. This is part of the UK Government, which I found out is doing a lot to help overseas development in Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean in the fight against poverty and hunger. I would like to talk about the things that I learnt about global issues that really affect us all, even though I am thousands of miles away from them. I felt that as my own awareness grew, I wanted to share this knowledge with others living in Birmingham. Publicity leaflet from Tesco
