Description:The new church that can be seen on this picture was built just off Bridge Street West in Newtown and has been there since the 1973. It is a modern building and very different to the original St George’s Church which was a traditional building. The new building was unusually built with a copper roof; it seemed to be the trend at the time of churches. The new church sits in large grounds which serves a multi cultural community. The area has high unemployment and has a diverse population. Therefore the new church is used as a hub for the local community with many different faiths and religions worshipping there throughout the week. It is more of a church centre, than a church. There are not so many rules and regulations that go with it, as there were with the original church. The building was particularly built for community use. The venue was chosen as there were a lot of houses surrounding it. Today, there are a handful of flats nearby.
