Description:Not far from the Law Courts, the Newton Street premises were given to the city by Geraldine and Barrow Cadbury in 1928.

At the time, the remand home is described as having the juvenile court below it and the police station opposite it. The juvenile court building is still standing on the corner of Newton Street and Steelhouse Lane.

In 1939, the work was transferred to Riversdale on the Bristol Road and from there into the Limes in 1945.
