Description:This children's home has become known as 'South Acre'.

South Acre was bought in 1965 to be used a children’s home. When it opened, all the children, staff and furniture were transferred directly from Pebble Mill House.

When it opened, South Acre had beds for 14 children, although two of the beds were used for the children of the staff initially. Both boys and girls were resident in South Acre. In the mid-1980s, the number of beds was reduced to 10.
