Description:As well as going to school and church and learning trades or domestic skills the homes were where the children also spent their leisure activities. They had their own swimming pools and playing fields and had an annual Sports Day. Children would also spend their birthdays and Christmas days at the home and later children who lived in the homes also remembered being taken on holidays to the seaside.
