Matthew Boulton (1728-1809) Engineer and Collaborator with James Watt James Watt (1736-1819) Inventor of the steam engine
William Murdoch (1754-1839) Inventor and pioneer of coal gas lighting
Richard Tapper Cadbury (1768-1860) Social and civic benefactor
Thomas Attwood (1783-1856) One of the 1st 2 Birmingham members of parliament and founder of the reform league
David Cox (1783-1859) Painter
Joseph Sturge (1793-1859) Instrumental in the abolition of slavery. Temperance and Juvenile welfare pioneer.
Sir Rowland Hill (1795-1879) Founder of the penny post.
Sir Josiah Mason (1795-1881) Founder of the Orphanage and University Cardinal J.H.Newman (1801-1890) Great Theologian and member of the oxford movement.
John Bright (1811-1889) Great Statesman and Orator.
Miss Louisa Ann Ryland (1816-1892) Philanthropist who gave Cannon Hill and Small Heath Parks to the people
George Dixon (1820 - 1898) Instrumental in securing Aston Hall for the city George Dawson (1821-1876) Nonconformist preacher, municipal reformer and founder of Public Library
