Description:When Hans Schwarz was 16 years old his father Viktor, a bank clerk, arranged for him to escape from Vienna under the sponsorship of the Society of Friends’ Germany Emergency Committee. They organised a training post for him in Birmingham with Cadbury. Hans arrived in Birmingham in early May 1939 and lived with other refugees at 7 Maple Road, Bournville.
