Description:The Society of Friends’ Germany Emergency Committee was formed in 1933. Its remit was to investigate what was happening in Germany and help where possible. Dr. Hilda Clark, Honorary Secretary of the Emergency Committee, was the granddaughter of the radical Birmingham M.P. John Bright and trained in medicine at Birmingham. Bertha Bracey, General Secretary, was born and bred in Birmingham and was a leading activist in the campaign for the Kindertransport.
