Description:Birmingham has a long history of groups that have developed to address health and well-being issues for the LGBT community. The Lesbian and Gay Switchboard, a first port of call for many, has just celebrated its 30th anniversary.
Other Birmingham groups include Boot Women, who have organized monthly walks for women for over ten years. LesBeWell ran national conferences around health issues for lesbians in the 1990s. Healthy Gay Life has an established presence, working with gay and bisexual men to promote sexual, mental and social health and well-being. B-GLAD and Good As You offer support for gay people who have experienced mental distress. Mayisha and Saathi are both social and support groups for black and Asian gays.
